SMS for iMessage is an Android app that securely routes your text messages from your Mac’s iMessage client to your Android phone. During setup, the app will walk you through the process of. Now, download the app for your PC – Android Messages Desktop app (from here) for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS, and more. Install the proper file corresponding to your operating system. Launch the Android Messages app on PC and Android as well. On you phone choose ‘Messages for Web’ Scan the Barcode on PC. Google’s new messaging app might finally be able to compete with iMessage. Android Messages is an RCS text app, short for Rich Communication Services, meaning that it supports document transfer such as photos, messaging typing status (you can see if the other persons are typing), as well as read receipts. Android SMS Transfer for Mac helps you backup text messages from Samsung,HTC,Google Pixel,Huawei, Nexus and other Android phone to Mac as.HTML or.CSV format;also restore restore default sms original and read them on the phone.
I will re-state for the sake of clarity.
The Messages App on the Mac can have an iMessages account Active and this can send iMessages just from the Apple ID if you don't have an iPhone.
An iPhone has an app also called Messages and if you activate it it will register the iPhone Number with the iMessages Server.
The App can also enable SMS/MMS messaging and it will decide how to send a 'text' based on where the recipient is registered with. (i.e. Windows explorer for mac. iPhones that are registered and Apple ID will get iMessages but non Apple phones will get SMS).
Later versions of the iOS version of Messages can Forward as it is called the SMS/MMS messages to the Mac over the same LAN.
This enables the Mac to Send and Receive SMS.
Posts here are not really clear about whether Messages on the iPhone can send mixed SMS/iMessages out to a mixed group of iPhone and non iPhones (presuming Numbers only).
It is not something I have tried myself.
This article suggests how it can be done http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/mobile-phone/how-send-group-texts-from-android -iphone-3472964/
So to be clear:-
The App is Messages and the Account/Service/actual text is called iMessage.
Text (SMS) chatting is not something I did before iMessages came along for text chats on an iPhone.
I was much more into using a Mac and iChat.
In Messages, for an AIM chat, you should be able to add a number of people/Numbers to the 'To' spot to create a group.
I happen to have used a spoof number as the second and the AIM Auto error message account as the other.
You get this double circle in the Side bar to indicate there are more than one contact involved.

There are specific SMS apps out there for computers and some are Mac ones.
However that seems a bit like buying the iPhone just to make something that seems possible work by using something else.

As we all know, internal storage for every Android device is quite limited, especially for such low-end device. To free up more disk space, deleting or archiving unwanted files or apps is a good way to get that. For personal like me, who messages a lot with family members and friends, SMS apps took too much space on my Android phone. I have to backup it at a monthly basis to let my device run smoothly as it was an old Android phone bought from Samsung several years ago.
To be on the safe side, it is strongly suggested to regularly create a copy for your messages file on your personal computer, but there's little sign that third-party program can be able to identify and scan Android internal storage, especially for the messages file due to it was saved as a specific file type in SIM or internal storage.

The entire backup process can be done with a GUI based user interface, instead of command line with free tools. Tips: How to Export/Backup SMS from Android to PC with Apps
Another way to transfer Android SMS to computer is by using Android apps. The reason why I don't recommend in here is that the backup option is not flexible as Android Assistant. And the function is limited. Only SMS backup feature is supported. However, it is still an available option. Below is the general guide on how to use app for SMS backup.
First, download SMS Backup app from Google Play Store and install it on your Android phone. Then click backup option on the app. Now, you need to select the messages you wish to backup. Next, choose a backup location. You can backup the message on SD card or cloud storage (Google Drive & Dropbox).
After backup, you'd better to check out the location and see whether the backup file is there. Many users reported that they couldn't find the file on their phones. And this app doesn't support old devices such as Samsung Galaxy S5.
